Rolleston Primary is located 15 mins south of Christchurch city in the township Rolleston. It was established in 1893 and currently has 650 students and is a decile 9 school. 24-7 YouthWork started in the school in 2009. I love the idea of being able to walk alongside young people and really develop them as individuals and as part of something bigger, a community. We’re not all the same and whether young or old, we bring to our communities a set of gifts that we can contribute to the big picture.
I’m really keen to see young people firmly established as part of the bigger picture. I remember a huge issue at high school being that so many of us had problems with self-worth, feeling disconnected from the world. I want to help young people realise their potential and know how precious and important they are as members of our greater community.
Respect yourself. Know that you are worth so much! And don’t be too quick to skip over the journey to get to the destination. Take your time and enjoy it!
