Aranui High
Aranui High was established in 1960 and is located in the eastern suburbs of Christchurch. It currently has 650 students and is a decile 2 school. 24-7 YouthWork started in the school in 2009. What do you love about being a 24-7 Youth Worker?
I love being able to connect with other youth workers in Christchurch. Being part of 24-7 means that we can encourage one another, support each other and pray together. Being a 24-7 Youthworker also helps me to see the bigger picture of what’s going on with Youthwork in Christchurch as well as nationally.
What was your reason for getting into 24-7 Youth Work?
I finished my studies in Youthwork last year. I was living in Motueka at the time and I was offered a job with Youth Alive Trust in New Brighton, Christchurch. This has given me the opportunity come to the big smoke and work in Aranui High. I love it!!
What would be your greatest piece of advice to young people?
That there is always hope! If you are going through hard times, you are not alone. There is always hope even when everything may seem hopeless.
